NAO Series 1 & National University Championships Results



Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, and technical officials who represented the NY WSO during the 2024 North American Open Series I and the National University Championships held in Columbus, Ohio from February 29th to March 3rd. We are proud of everyone’s hard work to reach this level of competition and their outstanding performances.⁣⁣


National University Championships


Zoe Pasetsky (59) earned a bronze medal with a 91 kg clean and jerk.


Lucie Gehringer (76) earned a bronze medal with an 80 kg snatch.


NAO Series 1: Adaptive


Tom Smalley (89) earned three gold medals with a 92 kg snatch, a 120 kg clean and jerk, and a 212 total.


NAO Series 1: Masters


Jean Beattie (55 W55) earned three gold medals with a 34 kg snatch, a 51 kg clean and jerk, and a 85 kg total.


Anne Herrick (71 W45) earned two bronze medals one for snatching 45 kg and the other for her 97 kg total.


Amy Stumvoll (76 W40) earned a silver medal snatching 69 kg and a bronze medal with her 153 kg total.


Wei-lin Eng (81 W40) earned two silver medals with a 75 kg clean and jerk and a 133 kg total.


Eunsoo Han (59 W35) earned three silver medals with a 69 kg snatch, an 80 kg clean and jerk, and a 149 kg total.


Gregg Decker (89 M65) earned a gold medal with a 51 kg clean and jerk.


Mark Lado (102 M55) earned three gold medals with an 85 kg snatch, a 125 kg clean and jerk, and a 210 kg total. Mark was also the Best Lifter in his age group and weight class. He placed 17th overall in the open Military division and 9th in the Masters Military.


Ryan Hansen (109 M40) earned three gold medals with a 123 kg snatch, a 160 kg clean and jerk, and a 283 kg total. He also placed third in the open Military division and second in the Military Masters.


Arkadiy Makaron (73 M35) earned two bronze medals with a 104 kg clean and jerk and a 180 kg total.


NAO Series 1: Seniors


Miguel Porter (61) earned two bronze medals with a 90 kg snatch and a 190 kg total.


Timothy Luistro (61) earned two silver medals with a 108 kg clean and jerk and a 206 kg total along with a gold medal with a. 98 kg snatch.


Mostafa Ibrahim (81) earned two bronze medals with a 121 kg snatch and a 274 kg total.


Juliana Riotto (87) earned two silver medals with a 100 kg snatch and a 220 kg total along with a bronze medal with a 120 kg clean and jerk. 


Nadezda Likhacheva (64) earned a bronze medal with a 91 kg snatch. She also placed 10th overall in the open women’s division with a 110 kg clean and jerk and a 201 kg total.


Renee Mihail earned 10th place overall in the open women’s Military division with a 58 kg snatch, a 73 kg clean and jerk, and a 131 kg total.


NAO Series 1: Teams


Murder of Crows earned 4th place overall.


Empire Weightlifting earned 7th place overall.
