Congratulations to John Rivero and Gwen Proper on their engagement while in Colorado Springs attending National Championships week – what a week for Empire Weightlifting!

We’re happy to report that Riley Martin, an athlete from the Adirondack region battling Leukemia, posted an update on his social media stating that he is now cancer free. We’re so happy for Riley and his family and wish him continued success with his health.

Congratulations to Monica Knowlton of the Brooklyn Training Hall on her first international competition performance at the Commonwealth Championship held in India from July 11th to July 17th. Monica finished the competition snatching 83 kg to earn a bronze medal, clean and jerking 110 kg to earn a silver medal, and a 193 kg total to finish in 3rd place. This performance also helped Monica earn a spot on Team Canada for the upcoming IWF World Championships in September.

Congratulations to Mark Lado of Empire Weightlifting on his performance at a meet in the Dominican Republic. Mark was in the country for work and found a great opportunity to lift on the competition platform.
